New Build Luxury 5 star hotel

01   /   04   /   2018

Located within the rolling picturesque landscape of Tuscany, within sight of San Gimignano, the site is nestled on a steep slope next to the village of Lano. Known for its natural hot springs, the village is an ideal location for promoting wellness and relaxation. The client wishes to capitalize on this unique feature with a design that seamlessly integrates the natural beauty and therapeutic benefits of the hot springs.

Proposed Scheme
The proposed scheme includes a series of small pools and chalets, which have already been designed and granted approval. The hotel will serve as the linking element between the hot springs and the existing village, creating a cohesive and immersive experience for guests.

Wellness and Spa Center:
A new wellness and spa centre will offer various spa treatments and include associated pools, providing guests with a comprehensive relaxation experience. A full fitness suite will cater to guests’ physical well-being.

Public Amenities:
The hotel will feature a bar, entrance area, and shopping facilities, making it a vibrant hub for both guests and visitors. A five-star Michelin restaurant will serve both hotel guests and the public. The restaurant will also have the potential to be hired for weddings, adding to its versatility and appeal.

Accommodation:
The hotel will offer 60 bedrooms and suites, each designed with balconies that provide breathtaking views over the valley.

This project aims to blend luxury and wellness, making the most of Tuscany’s natural beauty and the therapeutic allure of Lano’s hot springs.

Structure:
Located in an active seismic and landslide area of Tuscany, Italy, the proposed hotel straddles a known high-risk landslide zone. The structural strategy evolved aims to stabilize the hillside, eliminating any potential threat to the existing village.

Structural Strategy:
Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) Frame: The upper structure of the hotel will utilize a cross-laminated timber (CLT) frame. CLT offers excellent earthquake resistance properties, ensuring the building’s stability in seismic conditions. Additionally, CLT allows for rapid construction and incorporates airtightness into the design details.
